Dr. Hancer joined the Rosen College of Hospitality Management in August 2016 as a Professor. He was a Professor in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University since 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Hospitality Management from The Ohio State University. Dr. Hancer worked as the Graduate Program Coordinator for six years between 2009 and 2015 at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Hancer’s research areas are hospitality information technology and hospitality human resources management. He is known nationally and internationally for his research and have been a frequent invited lecturer in a variety of venues. His scholarly record includes more than 100 refereed publications, papers and presentations.

Dr. Hancer’s teaching areas include hospitality information technology, hospitality human resources management, service quality, research methods and leadership.

He is committed to ensuring that his work meets the highest standards and has won Six Best Paper awards within the last six years. These awards are especially significant as they represent his close working relationship and collaboration with several graduate students. Most recently, he won the 2014 Regents Distinguished Research Award at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Hancer is very active in guiding graduate student research and have been serving on thesis and dissertation committees as Chair or Co-Chair for approximately 25 doctoral and masters students. In 2011, he received the Outstanding Graduate Faculty Mentor award. In 2012, he won a university-wide Outstanding Graduate Coordinator award.

Dr. Hancer was the associate editor of Journal of Travel and Tourism Research. Currently, he is one of the coordinating editors of International Journal of Hospitality Management. He serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Tourism Analysis, and International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.
