Camp Pineapple

Camp Pineapple

We’re taking a break in 2022

Camp Pineapple started in Summer 2018 with 24 campers and expanded in 2020 to 40 campers. Campers are high school students from around the United States that have an interest in careers in the hospitality industry. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020 Camp Pineapple experience. UCF Rosen College and the Camp Pineapple staff were disappointed that the camp was cancelled but like many other things in 2020, the decision was made with the health, safety and well-being of all involved.

Camp Pineapple remains on hiatus for 2022, as the Central Florida hospitality industry rebounds from the Covid-19 pandemic, but is still in recovery. Camp Pineapple partners with the hospitality industry partners for many of our unique camper experiences, and given the ever changing travel and health guidelines, we want to be considerate of our partners’ ability to accommodate their returning guests in a safe and healthy environment, and not strain their resources to manage our camp site visits as well at this time. We continue to monitor the Covid-19 numbers in Central Florida and around the country as many of our campers travel from out of state. Our staff takes great pride in providing an exceptional camp experience that includes living in the Rosen College Apartments, numerous site visits and team building activities. The health and safety of our staff and campers is a priority and we would not be able to provide a top-quality experience. Planning Camp Pineapple takes about a year and with the uncertainty surrounding the ever-changing Covid-19 situation, we will continue the hiatus through Summer 2022.

We are as disappointed as potential campers that Camp Pineapple won’t return in 2022, but know that our goal is always to provide an exceptional program and with so many unknowns we don’t feel that we could provide that experience at this time. Any update to future opportunities will be posted here when decisions are made.

Students interested in the five undergraduate degree programs offered by UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management are invited to register for a Campus Tour and Information Session or our Spring 2022 Open House, hosted by UCF Undergraduate Admissions. We would like to remind those high school students that have missed out on the Camp Pineapple experience as a camper, that if you enroll at the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management, we hire our student staff from the current student population so there is a possibility that you could still experience Camp Pineapple. We have paid Student Director, Student Assistant Director and Counselor positions available and they count as an internship experience for the required academic internships. If you are interested in being on the Camp Pineapple Staff for 2022, application information will be distributed late Summer and early Fall 2021 thought the Rosen College communication channels.
