How it Began/How it’s Going

pantry picture

The Knights Helping Knights Pineapple Pantry at Rosen College was officially launched on February 3, 2020, thanks to the dedicated leadership of Rosen College staff and the unwavering support of administration, faculty, staff, and students. The pantry was established to provide essential resources to students experiencing food insecurity. Located on campus in Room 101C (accessible through the right-side door of the Darden Auditorium lobby), the pantry quickly became a vital resource. For more details, email pineapplepantry@ucf.edu or check out the grand opening feature on UCF Today and our introductory video.

In just four months of operation in 2020, the Pineapple Pantry served 115 individual students (non-repeats), supported by 12 volunteers, and distributed 564 pounds of non-perishable food. Additionally, the pantry received 909 pounds of donated food from generous supporters.

To prevent food waste during the pandemic, items within four months of their expiration date were donated to the Knights Helping Knights Pantry on the main campus, totaling 82 pounds. Unfortunately, 41 pounds of food had to be discarded due to the unexpected closures.

A $12,000 donation from the Langford Foundation allowed the pantry to purchase more food items and acquire a refrigerator to store perishable goods. A special thanks to Dr. Pizam and all the faculty, staff, and alumni whose support makes the Knights Helping Knights Pineapple Pantry possible.

Thank You for Supporting the Pantry

The Knights Helping Knights Pineapple Pantry would not be possible without the collective effort of our Rosen College community. Together, we are building a stronger, more supportive environment for our students.
