Dr. Chenggang Hua is an interdisciplinary scholar working at the nexus of tourism, hospitality, and public health, with a focus on therapeutic principles-driven service innovation and experience design.

In August 2025, Dr. Hua joined the Rosen College as an Assistant Professor, bringing with him dual Ph.D. degrees in Tourism Management from Nankai University, China, and Leisure Behavior from Indiana University, USA.

His research investigates accommodating behaviors in hospitality through the lens of ableism, the design of therapeutic travel experiences, and the health benefits of tourism participation for individuals with disabilities and survivors of traumatic events.

Dr. Hua has published more than 10 lead-author articles in top-tier journals, including the Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and has contributed to award-winning books. His work has earned international recognition, including the Best PhD Paper Award (CAUTHE), Best Research Award (TTRA), and Best Poster Awards (APHA, ASCIP). He is also an active conference presenter and serves as a reviewer for leading academic journals in tourism and hospitality.
