Rosen College is expanding its leadership in hospitality analytics and technology through the appointment of Associate Professor Mehmet Altin as the HFTP Professor of Hospitality Financial Management and Technology. The professorship strengthens Rosen College’s growing focus on data, innovation, and the future of decision-making in a global industry that is rapidly evolving.

Altin has spent the past decade shaping how Rosen College students understand performance analytics, revenue management, business intelligence, and entrepreneurship. His work bridges research and practice, using quantitative and mixed-methods approaches to study how hospitality organizations make strategic decisions and how data influences performance. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 scholarly publications, with his research appearing in the leading journals in hospitality and tourism.

“Finance and technology are now inseparable in hospitality,” Altin said. “Understanding how data informs strategy, operations, and the guest experience is key to developing the next generation of industry leaders. HFTP’s continued support helps make that possible.”

The professorship is supported by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), an international organization recognized for advancing the finance and technology segments of the hospitality industry. HFTP’s relationship with Rosen College dates back to the mid-2000s with the establishment of the original endowed professorship held by Stephen LeBruto, an HFTP Paragon Award recipient.

The renewed support reflects a shared investment in preparing Rosen College students to navigate an industry defined by innovation, analytics, and emerging technologies. It also reinforces Rosen College’s academic strength, which includes a No. 1 global ranking for hospitality and hotel management by CEOWorld magazine and recognition among the top programs internationally in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

Located in the center of Orlando’s tourism corridor, Rosen College continues to build programs, partnerships, and research that shape the future of hospitality and tourism.
