Professor Recognized for Research Achievement & Graduate Education
Dr. Fevzi Okumus received the University of Delaware’s Michael D. Olsen Research Achievement Award at the 2016 Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Philadelphia. The honor recognizes top scholars who have made a significant contribution through sustained and focused research leading to important contributions to the body of knowledge in hospitality and tourism. Among the criteria considered are overall contribution to the academy, including serving on editorial boards, international symposia and conferences, graduate education and mentoring of graduate students. The award is given in memory of the late Dr. Michael Olsen of Virgina Tech for his contribution to the body of hospitality knowledge and mentoring of graduate students.
Dr. Okumus is a professor in the Hospitality Services Department at Rosen College. He received his Ph.D. in Strategic Hotel Management from Oxford Brookes University, UK and worked in the hotel industry before becoming an educator. In addition to his vast research accomplishments, he serves as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (IJCHM), a top-tier journal in the hospitality field.
