ARDA President Speaks at Rosen College
On Monday, November 20, 2017, more than 100 UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management students, faculty and staff gathered in the Darden Auditorium for a special presentation delivered by Howard Nusbaum, President and CEO of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). The event, hosted by Futures in Vacation Ownership (FiVO) with invitations to the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) the Rosen College Leadership Council and students enrolled in internship courses, gave insights into the changing landscape of the timeshare industry.
During his 30-year career, Nusbaum has held many executive level hotel positions in the private sector and in not-for-profit association management. Nusbaum has served as President and CEO of ARDA since 2000. During his presentation, Nusbaum shared current statistics from the timeshare industry, including the fact that the industry has enjoyed seven years of growth and increased sales to $9.2 billion from $8.6 billion in 2015.
Timeshares offer more than 5,300 resorts worldwide for owners to choose from, and more than 1,500 of these properties are located in the United States. The presentation demonstrated to Rosen College’s hospitality management students that a career path in timeshares can be lucrative and fulfilling.
