With resumes and business cards in hand, over 500 Rosen College students descended on The Fall 2013 Career and Experiential Learning Fair on Thursday, Oct. 24. A total of 66 different hospitality employers on hand to discuss full-time, part-time and internship positions, students had exclusive access to hiring representatives from top companies like Hilton Worldwide, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Darden Restaurants, Tony Roma’s, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Universal Orlando. In addition, recruiters had the opportunity to meet and interact with a select group of students who are committed to a future in the hospitality industry.
"The Career Fair was wonderful," said Noemi Maldonado, a 2008 Rosen College graduate who currently works for Hilton Grand Vacations in recruiting sales and marketing. "I think that the students were very well prepared...they dressed appropriately, they brought resumes and business cards with them. They gave a very professional introduction of themselves. They have learned a lot from their professors and classes in preparation for it."
The student-run Career Fair at Rosen College is a unique experience for Premila Whitney’s Event Management class where they can practically apply strategies and skills learned throughout the semester. Students also prepared and served lunch to Career Fair employers and attendees.
"The students did such an amazing job," said Anna Hoang, district manager for Picerne Management Corporation and 2008 Rosen College graduate. "From the moment we dropped off our things to walk up here, everyone was so nice, so helpful, the set up was so pretty. It's our first time at the Rosen Career Fair, so we thought it was great."
