Misty Johantgen has been the Chief Operating Officer for Experience Kissimmee, Osceola County’s official destination marketing organization, since 2015. As COO, she is responsible for providing the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that Experience Kissimmee has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and ensure its financial strength and operating efficiency. Prior to Experience Kissimmee, Misty was an executive with Visit Orlando for 24 years. Before discovering the travel and tourism industry, Misty was a Training Specialist for Coral Gables Federal Savings & Loan.
A strong advocate for industry and community involvement, Misty currently serves on the Board of Directors for Destinations International’s Destination Marketing Accreditation Program, Destinations Florida (formerly known as Florida Association of Destination Marketing Organizations), the Osceola Historical Society and the Osceola Resort Area Council. Additionally, Misty is a member of the American Society of Association Executives. Over the years, Misty has also served on UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management Events Advisory Board, the Small Business Board of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, the East Orlando Chamber Board and United Arts of Central Florida’s Marketing Committee.
Misty graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in English and minors in both Secondary Education and German. She is a 1997 Leadership Orlando graduate. In 2013, she was awarded Destinations International’s Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) designation. She is a 2015 Girl Scouts of Citrus Council “Woman of Distinction” nominee. In 2017 Misty was awarded the Women’s Executive Council of Central Florida “Women’s Achievement Award” in the category of Travel & Tourism.
