Rosen College Knight-Thon Team Triples Fundraising Total, Wins Award

ucf-knight-thon-rosen-collegeUCF celebrated its 20th Annual Knight-Thon on April 2-3, a 20-hour dance marathon benefiting the Greater Orlando Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In 2014, the Rosen College Peer Outreach Mentoring Program (POMP) and Rosen Life led the college’s first Knight-Thon Team, the Rosen Miracle Makers, and raised a little more than $2,000. This year, the team raised $7,010, tripling last year’s fundraising total. Overall, UCF’s Knight-Thon set a new record of $1,001,678.20 million miracles made this year.

The Rosen Miracle Makers team raised almost $5,000 through personal efforts and $2,000 as a team through several events, including Rent-A-Pup. As a result of their outstanding efforts, they were awarded the 2015-2016 Rising Knight award for the highest percentage increase raised in the Registered Student Organization category.

“Twenty hours seems like a lot and I was really afraid I wouldn’t make it, but knowing that I’m standing for all the kids in Arnold and Winne Palmer hospitals makes it worth the sore feet,” said senior Breanna Pajevic. “I’ve never felt more grateful or rewarded than after Knight-Thon and I recommend joining the team to anyone who wants to become more involved or simply wants to give back to the community.”
