Rosen College Knight-thon Team Sets Records for Donations

Rosen College’s own Miracle Makers were a part of the philanthropic-minded UCF students who contributed time, money and dancing, to set records this year for the annual Knight-Thon fundraiser. This year, a team of 30 students raised almost $16,000 for Knight-thon, through events such as Rent-a-pup, partial proceeds night, and individual fundraising. Eighteen of the 30 students danced in the actual Knight-thon event. Though just a small team, their funds were a significant contribution to the overall totals raised in the end.

Started just three years ago, the Miracle Makers Knight-thon team grew from just three members in its first year, raising a little over $2,000, to 11 Rosen Miracle Makers in its second year and earned Knight-Thon’s “Rising Knights” award for the highest percentage increase raised in the Registered Student Organization category

Overall, UCF’s Knight-Thon student philanthropy group raised $1.25 million in the past year for Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. This is a new record! Students collected for a year leading up to Knight-Thon, which was held April 1-2, 2017, where 1,350 students danced in the CFE Arena for 20 hours to “stand for those kids who can’t.” Knight-Thon is the largest student-run philanthropy group at UCF. Now in its 21st year, The University of Central Florida’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon program, Knight-thon, upheld its promise to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children to raise $1.2 million. As the 7th largest in the country, Knight-Thon continues to grow exponentially each year all while keeping their mission and promise first: to do everything for the kids.
