Summit Spotlight:
Michael Shindler
In less than one week, practitioners and scholars from around the world will gather at Rosen College for the 2nd World Research Summit for Tourism and Hospitality. The three-day conference will feature four panel discussions on a specific theme or issue in the following focus areas: Lodging, Theme Parks & Attractions, Destination Marketing & Management, and Research.
Michael Shindler, Executive Vice President of Hotels & Casinos for Hard Rock International, will participate in the Lodging panel alongside colleagues from other major hospitality brands. While Hard Rock is an internationally recognized name, it’s still relatively new to the hotel space and looking to make its mark.
Even as a seasoned industry professional, Shindler sees the benefit of creating a bridge between research and practice.
“We in the industry tend to not step back and reflect often enough,” said Shindler. “The advantage of the interaction between industry participants and those studying it from an academic perspective is that the academics study in-depth what practitioners don’t have the time or opportunity to do. This interaction can be critical to both parties in informing how we all move forward as an industry.”
The 2nd World Research Summit for Tourism and Hospitality will take place December 15-17, 2013 at UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management in Orlando, FL. Click here to learn more.
